GR8 PERFORMANCE AT SUPERLEAGUE FORMULA IN JARAMA. MORE TO COME.

Breda/The Netherlands, 20 June 2010 - Robert Doornbos and Yelmer Buurman, both racing in Superleague Formula and represented by gr8industries.com, were a little bit disappointed after the races in Jarama.

Robert's car has been improved which showed off in free practice. In race 1 Robert finished on P9. In race 2 Robert enjoyed a fantastic start but also a poor pitstop which caused him finishing as fifth after being close to a podium finish. Unfortunately he finished 8th in the weekend so he did not make it to the superfinals. Robert has improved the set up of his car and feels he will be much stronger the remainder of the season.

Robert Doornbos: “Once again I had a good start, I immediately went from 10th to 4th place in the opening lap. But we had a problem with the downforce on the car, so the team had to quickly adjust the front wing during the pitstop. Then the engine stalled as well, but the team did a great job in restarting it. When I drove through the pitlane suddenly Dolby exited his box in front of me. I had to brake to avoid contact. The next race is on the Nürburgring in Germany, where I took a victory in the Superleague Formula 2 years ago. So I am really looking forward to returning there next weekend.”

Yelmer Buurman was all weekend very quick. Quickest in free practice overall. 2nd in Qualification. Second in race 1. 10th in race 2. And unfortunately only 3rd in the superfinanls earning eur 50.000,--. A good weekend but there could have been more in it. Yelmer shows a strong performance already since the first race and is a real contender for more racewins and the championship.

Yelmer Buurman: “I had a slipping clutch coming out of the pit lane before the Super Final so I was very careful at the start and it worked out quite well. Unfortunately I made a small mistake into turn 1 and went a little bit wide which allowed Olympiacos and Beijing to pass me. In race 2 it was so difficult to overtake. As all the cars were so close together, I was expecting one or two of them to make a mistake, but it never happened.”

Championship standings:

Yelmer Buurman/AC Milan 2nd position, 263 points (50 points behind leader)
Robert Doornbos/SC Corinthians, 13th position, 128 points
